Smashing Success!!!

Alumni Photo

The CCF Alumni Foundation BBQ and Reunion was a smashing success!  The weekend was packed with fun filled activities and plenty of food. We had somewhere around 25 alumni show up in SLO. (The photo above shows 23 of us.) Not bad for a first event.

In the future, we hope to invite and get in contact with many more alumni. We’d also like to host more regional events to be more accessible to all alumni, and especially those with children.

Church List

Our apologies for the tardiness of this list. We had intended this to be up a week ago, but there was some miscommunication. If you had a church during your time here in SLO, please feel free to return. You may find it hasn’t changed in the 5, 10, 15, 25 years since you’ve been there. On the other hand, it may have changed radically. Regardless, if you’re looking for a new or different church to attend this weekend, please feel free to attend one of the ones below.

Note that there is a CCF or CCFAF contact listed. They’re eagerly waiting for your phone call if you need directions, info, etc. And they’re all very friendly people, so we know they’ll help you out. And if they don’t, please let us know and we’ll take care of them for you ;-)

Flexibility is the Philosophy

Below is the e-mail that was sent to everyone who responded to our RSVP for the BBQ. We hope it clarifies things, in case they were confusing or misunderstood:

Hi Everyone,

The CCFAF Board wanted to make a clarification in order to prevent any confusion that could arise as a result of the packed schedule we have on Memorial Day weekend.  Hopefully, by sharing a bit of our philosophy, you’ll have a better understanding of what’s happening.

First of all, as your fellow alumni, we all work 40+ hours per week, and then have to go home to take care of our loved ones (spouses, kids, etc.), so we know that weekends are precious.  Three day weekends are even more precious.  With that in mind, we wanted to make sure that the events of our Reunion respected that sanctity, and allowed you to have downtime should you choose to do so.  At the same time, we felt it would be a shame to have people travel for hours only to come to a BBQ lunch, eat, play games, and turn around to head home.

Consequently, we planned two main events: the BBQ, and the Evening Program.  If nothing else, we’d encourage you to attend these two events. Then we added a number of peripherally related, fun events to fill in the time.  Please feel free to attend any or all of the events.  If you just want to come to the BBQ, and spend the rest of your weekend in SLO relaxing and enjoying the beauty that is SLO, you are more than welcome to do that.  On the other hand, if you’re totally gung-ho about attending every single event that we’ve planned and will be racing around taking photos of everything, you’re welcome to do that as well.  We’re giving you the liberty and flexibility of doing nothing, anything, or everything. Again, this was driven by our knowledge that weekends are precious commodities, especially in the working world, and our friendships and relationships with others are also important.

We hope that clarifies things.  Please let us know if you have any questions.  We’re counting down the days until we can see all of you again.

In Christ,
The CCFAF Board of Directors

Evite: Save the Date

Our Save the Date Evite was sent out this morning. If you didn’t receive it, that likely means we don’t have your e-mail address.  Please e-mail info@ccfalumni.org to let us know.

In any case, you are still free and welcome to attend. Please click the link below to respond to the Evite.
http://www.evite.com/app/publicUrl/GNSJQDRVKDQLOLASULYM/reunion

This is just our Save the Date notice, not the final invitation.  We’re trying to get a preliminary headcount, so even if you might attend, please respond “Yes”.

Please bring you families (even if they didn’t attend CCF), otherwise we would prefer this to remain for CCF alumni specifically, and not Cal Poly Alumni in general. With that in mind, please feel free to invite others who were not on this list.

Looking forward to seeing all of you there.
